This should come as no surprise to those who have followed the RBC Canadian Open up at Glen Abbey this week……the third round was delayed due to rain and storms today.
Jason Dufner is the current leader at 14-under, while the young gun Anthony Kim is only one shot off the lead. Jerry Kelly is also at 13-under par for the tournament.
Basically what it comes down to is that this is a very interesting situation for everyone involved. The golf course has been absolutely drenched over the past several days, and who knows what kind of shape it will be in [...]
Archive for July, 2009
The Senior British Open has ended at Sunningdale, with Loren Roberts winning in a playoff over Fred Funk and Mark McNulty.
Roberts and McNulty battled until a third playoff hole, while Funk was taken out in the first playoff hole following the fourth round of the tournament.
The Evian Masters has concluded in France, with Ai Miyazato winning in the first hole of a playoff against Sophie Gustafson.
Both ladies finished at 14-under par for the championship, with Miyazato knocking down a birdie on the playoff hole, while Gustafson hit for par.
The tournament is currently airing on the Golf Channel for those who want to see the finish.
Today's Recap: Water and Sharks
It was another good day of golf for those at Sunningdale and the Evian Masters, but same ol’ same ol’ at the RBC Canadian Open.
Jason Dufner is your leader after day three at Glen Abbey at 13-under par, though only two rounds have been played in those three days. Nearly two inches of rain fell again today, and the third round of the tournament won’t get started until tomorrow morning, assuming that conditions are better at that point.
Jerry Kelly and Scott Verplank sit at 12-under for the tournament. Trevor Immelman shot a 78 in round two and missed the cut, [...]
Today's Big Three Recap
A little late on the recap tonight, I know. But let’s jump right into where we stand heading into the weekend for the three big tournaments going on in professional golf.
The RBC Canadian Open was struck once again by bad weather today, with round one leader Kevin Na not even being able to get his second round going. Therefore, a new leader has emerged. That being Jerry Kelly who is currently atop the leaderboard at 11-under par, though he still had three holes remaining in his second round.
Updating Today's Leaders
Thought I’d drop in and write up a small post on those who are currently leading the big tournaments in the world of professional golf today, as of 12:30 PM CT time.
At the RBC Canadian Open, Kevin Na and Jerry Kelly are the current leaders at 9-under par. Camilo Villegas was also at the top as I began writing this, but bogeyed the second hole in his second round play to drop back to 8-under for the tournament. He is tied with Martin Laird for second at the moment.
Retief Goosen will tee of this afternoon, looking to keep his hot [...]
That’s right, 2009 British Open lovers. Tom Watson is trying to give us another great weekend, but this time at the Senior British Open at Sunningdale.
Though he’s not leading after the first round, he’s pretty darn close to the top. Watson shot a 67 today, putting him at 3-under par for the championship, and only three shots back of the leader, Fred Funk.
Greg Norman also shot 67, who also put on a spectacular British Open performance last year at Birkdale.
I think tomorrow will tell us a lot as to whether Watson will be able to stick around towards the top [...]
Evian Masters – Day 1 Recap
Like the RBC Canadian Open, the Evian Masters was in the middle of some bad weather today. Thunder and lightning caused a little bit of a delay in play, but it was a good day overall.
Becky Brewerton, Na Yeon Choi, and In-Kyung Kim all currently sit at 5-under through the round, with many golfers within three shots of the current lead.
Notables:
Karrie Webb -3 (69)
Helen Alfredsson (defending champion) -2 (70)
Paula Creamer -2 (70)
Cristie Kerr -2 (70)
Morgan Pressel -2 (70)
Lorena Ochoa +3 (75)…..that pick isn’t looking too good right now, is it?
Actually saw more of this today than I did of the [...]
RBC Canadian Open – Day 1 Recap
Well it seems as though the RBC Canadian Open has seen all the golf it’s going to see for the first day of the tournament. But that doesn’t mean round one has been completed.
As I said earlier in the update, rain forced a very, very long delay at Glen Abbey, which has pushed back the first round quite a bit.
There are some that still haven’t got on the tee yet, so they’ll be forced to get going early in the morning.
Kevin Na is your leader after round day one at 9-under par, shooting a 63 for the round.
Retief Goosen (my [...]
RBC Canadian Open Update #1
Though I haven’t been able to watch much of the coverage today myself, I wanted to give golf fans out there a quick update as to what is going down at Glen Abbey.
Heavy rain spread through the area which delayed the first round of the tournament for many hours. So who knows who exactly will get their rounds in today, and who will have to play early in the morning. We’ll just have to see how the weather holds up.
As of 5:42 PM CT time, Retief Goosen leads the tournament at 5-under par through 10 holes. Yes, if you look [...]

Bernhard Langer Has a Point
I just finished reading an article over at PGA.com that talked about Bernhard Langer’s view on the age limit for major championships.
I see no problem with this. Langer’s best point comes when he states “It’s not like you’re inviting or getting in players that have no history — they are some of the legends, some of the greatest guys that ever swung the club.” Exactly. You’re not putting the average joe out there. You’re putting former major champions and excellent golfers out there.
If you increase the age limit or allow some of the top players on the Champions Tour exemptions [...]
