Golf Getting Closer and Closer Towards the Olympic Stage

by Olympics

The word dropped just a little while ago that golf would indeed be recommended by the IOC (International Olympic Committee) for the 2016 Olympic games.

Here’s the full story from the New York Times.

I think this is absolutely great for the game, and while some may contend that the four majors is already enough for professional golf, I don’t really see it that way.

This will do nothing but boost the exposure of the sport, and allow golf to grow in areas no would could have ever dreamed it would.

I mean, this is the Olympics we’re talking about here. I’d say there will be quite a few people watching. So it’s going to allow pro golf to take the main stage throughout the entire world, as the Olympics air in so many different places.

And Tiger Woods has already said he would play, so that’s plenty of marketing ability right there. It can’t be too hard to sell his abilities to the people. If he’s there, they’re watching.

While it’s not a done deal yet, as it still has to be approved, let’s hope the committee makes the right decision and puts golf into the Olympics yet again.

I’m gonna write about the pros and cons of this in detail in the coming days. So be sure to look for that.
