AUTHOR: | IN: JELD-WEN Tradition, LPGA, Tom Watson, Wyndham Championship | COMMENTS: Comments Off

Wanted to go ahead and give a quick recap of today’s action thus far at the Wyndham Championship, the JELD-WEN Tradition, and the Solheim Cup. I’m heading out in a little bit, so I probably won’t be able to catch the last hour or so of the action. But here’s what has taken place thus far today (all of this as of 7:11 PM ET): Wyndham Championship The weather has once again been a factor today, with a three-hour delay taking place in Greensboro this afternoon.Third round probably won’t finish today, so I guess there is still a possibility of [...]

AUTHOR: | IN: JELD-WEN Tradition, LPGA, Wyndham Championship | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Lots of interesting golf action took place today, with the Wyndham Championship and JELD-WEN Tradition hitting round two, while the ladies at the Solheim Cup completed their first day of action. Here’s a quick recap of what took place today at each of the three events: Wyndham Championship The second round couldn’t finish today, as there were players still in their rounds before play was called for the day due to darkness. Chris Riley and Ryan Moore are the current leaders, both at 11-under par for the tournament. Riley shot an excellent round of 63 on the day, while Moore [...]

Wyndham Championship Day 1 Recap, Plus JELD-WEN Notes

AUTHOR: | IN: Greg Norman, JELD-WEN Tradition, Tom Watson, Wyndham Championship | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

A lot of interesting things took place today at the Wyndham Championship, with three guys sitting atop the leaderboard heading into the second round the rest of the first round, and then the second round after that tomorrow. Play was suspended due to darkness today, which was the result of a 4-hour delay due to weather. However, Chez Reavie, Brandt Snedeker (go Vanderbilt!), and Ryan Moore all shot a 64 on the day, putting them at 6-under par for the tournament and in the current lead after day one.

With the Wyndham Championship and the JELD-WEN Tradition kicking off today, let’s take a look at the Solheim Cup, which begins tomorrow in Chicago. Even if you aren’t a big follower of women’s golf, this will still be a very entertaining event due to the match play style.

AUTHOR: | IN: Greg Norman, JELD-WEN Tradition, Tom Watson, Wyndham Championship | COMMENTS: Comments Off

With this week’s tournament, the Wyndham Championship, being sort of a not-so big tournament,  we’ll abbreviate predictions somewhat for the week. Also, we’ll add in some predictions for the JELD-WEN Tradition, which is the final major of the year for the Champions tour fellas. And we’ll preview and make predictions tomorrow on the Solheim Cup, as it gets underway on Friday. With all that in mind, here are your predictions for this week’s action:

Ranking the 2009 Major Championships

Before we start focusing on the week’s upcoming tournaments, with the Solheim Cup for the ladies and the JELD-WEN Tradition for the champions tour taking center stage, let’s take a quick look back at the 2009 major championships for the PGA. It was a year for the underdog at the major championships, and each tournament had something very intriguing that made it unique. Now keep in mind, I am ranking these tournaments as a whole tournament. Not just the final round, or the last two days. The tournament as a complete entity. Everyone ranks their enjoyment of a tournament in [...]

The Big Monday Morning Question: Did Tiger Choke?

AUTHOR: | IN: PGA Championship, Tiger Woods | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

The golf world is still reeling from the events of yesterday evening at Hazeltine, as the 110th-ranked player in the world, Y.E. Yang, took down the best player in the world, Tiger Woods, in the 91st playing of the PGA Championship. Yang became the first player to knock off Woods in a situation where Woods had the lead after 54 holes (14 for 14 until yesterday), and ignited a whirlwind of questions in the process. The biggest question of all: Did Tiger Woods choke?

Introducing Your 2009 PGA Champion: Y.E. Yang

AUTHOR: | IN: PGA Championship, Tiger Woods | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

In what could only be called a stunning finish to the PGA Championship at Hazeltine, the winner of the tournament turned out to be someone other than Tiger Woods. Woods, who led the tournament by a comfortable margin for most of the time, found himself in trouble for most of the day today, and allowed Y.E. Yang to take advantage and win his first ever major championship. Yang did what others have been unable to do here recently, and that’s take advantage of Tiger’s mistakes. Oh, and a chip-in eagle at the par four 14th helped quite a bit too.

PGA Round 3 Recap – Harrington Cuts Into Tiger's Lead

AUTHOR: | IN: PGA Championship, Tiger Woods | COMMENTS: Comments Off

It was yet another interesting day of action at the PGA Championship today, with a few guys making a run at current leader, Tiger Woods. Woods shot a 1-under 71 for the day, and seemed to kind of go back and forth the entire today. While he wasn’t losing shots or anything like that, he just didn’t really have the same chances to score low that he did the previous two days of action. As for the rest of the field, some guys who were chasing faded, and others made the best of an average day for Tiger.

PGA Round 2 Recap – Tiger's Lead Increases

AUTHOR: | IN: Lee Westwood, PGA Championship, Tiger Woods | COMMENTS: Comments Off

Did you really think anyone would come blazing towards the top of the leaderboard, and overtake Tiger Woods as the leader of the PGA Championship after the second round? If you did, well, it didn’t happen. Woods had a pretty decent day by his standards. He finished with a 2-under 70, bogeying his first hole of the day, and his last.

PGA Round 1 Recap – Tiger vs. Paddy…..Again

AUTHOR: | IN: PGA Championship, Tiger Woods | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

The first round of the PGA Championship has concluded at Hazeltine, with Tiger Woods currently in the lead at 5-under par for the championship. Who is behind him on the leaderboard? That’s right, none other than Padraig Harrington, who is one shot off the lead at 4-under. It would be a great scene for golf if these two are battling it out once again come Sunday afternoon. I would love to see these two go back and forth one more time, but without being rushed this time by a rules official.
