U.S. Leads After Day One at the Presidents Cup

Posted by: Blake Lovell

The first day of the Presidents Cup has come and gone, and the United States has a 3 1/2 to 2 1/2 lead over the European team.

It was a great day of golf, with some pretty exciting matches taking place throughout the day. The two big teams for the United States got the job done, which was no surprise considering the pairings for the day. Here’s a small AP story on the day’s action.

Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker got the easy 6 and 4 victory over Geoff Ogilvy and Ryo Ishikawa, while Phil Mickelson and Anthony Kim picked up some points after they defeated Mike Weir and Tim Clark 3 and 2.

It was definitely a good start for the U.S., and these kind of events are always intriguing from start to finish. It should be another day full of suspense tomorrow, and I would expect both teams to play some good golf.

Have a great night everyone!
