Tiger Woods is Your 2009 PGA Tour Player of the Year

I don’t know about you, but the Tiger Woods affair stuff is starting to weigh on me a little bit. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if other continue to come out, but at this point, does it really matter how many more come out? So if you’re tired of talking about the Tiger stuff off the course, well, we can talk about the Tiger stuff on the course today.

Tiger was voted PGA Tour Player of the Year by his peers on Friday, which should come as no big shock at all. Tiger had a great year on the course, despite the fact that the didn’t win a major championship. By Tiger’s standards, it may have been a down year, but by everyone else’s standards, he completely dominated the competition at times.

He picked up six victories this year, and also added on the FedEx Cup to cement himself as the tour’s best player this season. Quite honestly, no one else would have even came close as a possibility for best player this season. While it wasn’t the same Tiger we’ve seen throughout the years, he still won tournaments, and still made it look easy at times.

So congrats to Tiger on winning the award, though I doubt that’s a main concern of his right now, given everything that has happened over the past several weeks.

He may not have a chance to completely defend this award next season, as we don’t really have any clue as to win he’ll return after taking an indefinite leave from the game of golf.

But for now, Tiger is the player of the year, and he obviously deserved it.
