Golf in 3D?

If you think you’ve seen golf from just about every angle possible, and seen it in every possible way, then there might be something that expands your golf viewing ways even further. That’s right, the PGA is working on creating 3D broadcasts for tournaments.

This is certainly something that sounds pretty interesting. Golf in 3D? I’m cool with that. While some believe that golf is one of the more boring sports to watch on TV, being the golf enthusiast that I am, I would have to disagree with that stance. Which of course means that adding 3D to the mix would make my golf watching even more enjoyable.

Golf is not for everyone when it comes to watching it on television. If you don’t know the guys involved, then you probably aren’t going to care a whole lot. Golf fans enjoy golf broadcasts (for the most part), and there’s so many different types of ways to view the game, which actually makes watching golf tournaments pretty exciting…..if you’re a golf fan.

So if we turn to those who aren’t particularly fond of watching the sport, the 3D addition could be a pretty big deal. While the PGA is looking at 2011 as the possible date for introducing this, I would say that commissioner Tim Finchem is probably wishing he would have started developing this last season. Ya know, Mr. Ratings has taken an indefinite leave from the game. It would have been nice to add this during a time of uncertainty in the golfing world. That’s for sure.

But I guess we’ll wait and see what other details come out, and see just how cool this thing could be. On the surface, it sounds pretty interesting. We’ll see what Sony and the PGA can do to make this a success.
