While the Tiger Woods press conference and the Accenture Match Play Championship have been the main focus of attention this week for golf fans, some probably forgot that the LPGA kicked things off this week in Thailand.

We knew it had to happen soon enough. But yes ladies and gentlemen, Ian Poulter has his first official win in the United States of America, as he knocked off Paul Casey today in the Accenture Match Play final.

We’ve made it to the final eight at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship, which should make for some pretty exciting golf taking place these next few days. Here’s a few predictions for today’s action.

We finally saw Tiger Woods yesterday. It had been quite a while, hadn’t it? And it seemed like Tiger had a lot to say, and I guess if you had been through the past three months that he had been through, you probably would to. Let’s discuss.

Yesterday, I made my predictions as to who would win this week’s match play tournament. You can read it to find out who I picked to win, but once you get to my predicted final two, you may be laughing uncontrollably at my so called “expertise.” Ahh what the heck, I’ll go ahead and tell you who I picked. That would be Steve Stricker and Henrik Stenson.

Day one has arrived of the WGC-Accenture Match Play, and we’ve got 32 excellent matches getting ready to take place out in Marana. As we’ve mentioned, this has the NCAA March Madness feel to it with the 64-man field. So with that in mind, I’m going to fill out my bracket just like most people would for the NCAA tournament.

It’s a different kind of week in professional golf, as this week, we get a March Madness-like feel to the game, as the Accenture Match-Play Tournament. For those who don’t know how it works, it’s a 64-man field, and it’s nothing but head-to-head matches the entire way. Basically, it makes for some really fun golf, and even if you don’t watch other tournaments on a regular basis, this is one you’ll want to see.

It was announced today that the 2014 British Open will be taking place at Royal Liverpool, which last held the event in 2006. The winner the last time the British was played there? Why, who else? Mr. Tiger Woods.

As we get ready for yet another big week in professional golf, there’s a caddy change that might be of some interest to golf fans around the world. Stuart Appleby will be changing caddies after this week’s event, with him parting ways with his long-time caddy Joe Damiano.
