Ai Miyazato Wins First LPGA Event of 2010

While the Tiger Woods press conference and the Accenture Match Play Championship have been the main focus of attention this week for golf fans, some probably forgot that the LPGA kicked things off this week in Thailand.

Ai Miyazato picked up the victory in the first event of what should be a very interesting year for the LPGA Tour. Suzann Pettersen was the runner-up, finishing only one stroke behind Miyazato.

Miyazato has the chance to have a big year on tour, as she proved last year that she could contend with the best of them by winning the Evian Masters. That was the first we had really started hearing of Miyazato on a consistent basis, and she played well the rest of the year after that.

Congrats to Miyazato on the season-opening victory, and I think that she’s set for a great season on tour.
