Now that all the Tiger Woods off-course issues have settled down a little bit, more focus will start to turn to when the best player in the world will get back to competition. While some think Woods won’t even return this season, Jack Nicklaus thinks otherwise.
Nicklaus say that it would surprise him if Tiger didn’t make it back in time to play Augusta, and that he thinks that Tiger might play a tournament before then as well.
While I can understand where Nicklaus is coming from here, I just don’t really think that there’s any chance that Tiger returns at the Masters. It would surprise me if he did return. Judging from the press conference that we saw from him, he looked like a man that wanted to seriously get things back on track off the course. Things like that will take time.
I do think Tiger will be back this season, but I just cannot see it being at the Masters. Don’t get me wrong. As a golf fan, I hope he comes back tomorrow. But that’s wishful thinking I think at this point.
We’ll wait and see what happens. I feel strongly that he won’t be back, but then again, when it comes to golf, and a matter of whether I’m right or Jack Nicklaus is right, I’d probably lean more towards the Golden Bear there. I hope he is.
