It looks like golf fans who just haven’t been all that into golf since the departure of Tiger Woods might soon be able to enjoy their favorite sport once again. Reports are flying all over the place that Woods could return as soon as the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
The New York Post seems to think that Tiger could return at Bay Hill for Palmer’s annual event (an event Tiger usually wins), while FoxSports.com believes that the world’s greatest golfer will wait to return at the Masters. Either way, we win. Why? Because Tiger is coming back!
Look, I’ve said this before, and I’ll say this again. I’m not condoning what Tiger did off the course. But is that going to change the way I feel about watching him play golf? No, it’s not. I can’t wait to see this guy get back out on the course, and he might very well come back and be better than ever.
He’ll be rusty the first few weeks, so I’m not gonna go out there and say that he’ll win the Masters, but once he gets a little momentum, two things will happen. He’ll have that unbreakable confidence once again. And the rest of the field will start to second-guess themselves when things are close down the stretch. It’s the Tiger effect. And while it may not be there the first month or so of his return, it’ll be back, and the players will feel it.
So whether it be Bay Hill or Augusta, Tiger Woods is coming back. And I’m ecstatic.
