Fred Couples Makes His Run at the U.S. Senior Open
We all knew it was bound to happen. With the U.S. Senior Open being held in his hometown of Seattle, it was just a matter of time before Fred Couples made his charge up the leaderboard. And that’s exactly what happened today in the third round of this major championship, as Couples shot a 65, and is now tied for the lead with Senior British Open winner, Bernhard Langer.
We’re one round away from crowning the 2010 Women’s British Open champion, as third round play has concluded at Royal Birkdale. No surprise at the top after round three, as Yani Tseng is still controlling the tournament after shooting a 68 for the third consecutive day, and has a four-stroke lead over Katherine Hull heading into the final round of the championship.
The golfing day got off to a good start, with the women competing in the final LPGA major of the 2010 season, and saw two women atop the leaderboard at the end of round one. There are also two on top of the leaderboard at the Greenbrier Classic, as Erik Compton and Matt Avery both got the birdies going and shot 63 to sit at 7-under for the tournament.
Round one of the Women’s British Open has concluded at Royal Birkdale, and we currently have two players sitting atop the leaderboard. Yani Tseng and Katherine Hull both shot rounds of 68 to stand at 4-under par for the championship, while four players are one shot behind them at 3-under through one round of golf at the LPGA’s final major of the season.
Another exciting week of golf is about to get underway, as the women of the LPGA tour gear up for their final major championship of the season at the Women’s British Open. Meanwhile, the Champions tour has a major of its’ own, with Seattle-native Fred Couples looking to capture the U.S. Senior Open trophy in his hometown. And last but certainly not least, the PGA tour has the inaugural Greenbrier Classic taking place in West Virginia. Needless to say, it’s not gonna be too hard to find great golf on television this weekend.
Predictions: Greenbrier Classic and U.S. Senior Open
It’s time for more golf predictions, as earlier we took a shot at predicting who would win the Women’s British Open. But now, we turn our attention to the men for a double dose of predictions, as we take a look at the first-ever Greenbrier Classic for the PGA tour, and the U.S. Senior Open for the Champions tour. So let’s get right to it!
Predictions: Women’s British Open
The final major championship of the season gets underway tomorrow for the LPGA, as the Women’s British Open takes place at Royal Birkdale. After we saw one of the best professional golf tournaments of the season last week at the Evian Masters, we can only hope that the ladies have another tournament just like it in store for us this week. Who can we expect to win this week? Well I’m glad you asked. Because it’s time for predictions!
Some exciting news today for fans of Mr. Anthony Kim, as he will be officially returning to action next week at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational. There were rumors floating around that Kim could possibly make it back for the RBC Canadian Open this past week, but that didn’t happen, so his first event back will indeed be next week at Firestone.
Do You Want to Write About Pro Golf?
The headline above is probably pretty self-explanatory, but let’s explain things a little more in detail. Yes, we are now officially looking for contributors here at Pro Golf Now! Which means if you’ve always wanted to write about golf but didn’t know where to start, this could be a great opportunity for you. PGN was created a little over a year ago, and was moved over to the FanSided network around the start of the new year. So as the blog continues to grow, we need new writers to help us with that growth.
A Look Back at the 2009 Women’s British Open
The final major championship of the 2010 LPGA season takes place this week at Royal Birkdale, as the ladies do battle at the Women’s British Open. This event will be what we expect from a British Open, as I’m sure we’ll see unpredictable weather become the theme for the week, which will probably lead to some high scores. Here’s a look back at last year’s event at Royal Lytham & St. Annes, which was won by Catriona Matthew, who had just given birth to her second daughter 11 weeks before the championship.
Why You Could Someday Caddie for Amy Winehouse
The game of golf tends to attract people from all over the world, in many different types of professions. After all, it is a game unlike any other that offers an addicting challenge. Perhaps addicting wasn’t the best choice of words there in terms of this piece of news, as it seems as though singer and songwriter Amy Winehouse has decided that a little golf is exactly what she needs to stay away from all that bad stuff out there in the world.
Jiyai Shin Back Atop the Women’s World Golf Rankings
In the new edition of the women’s Rolex Rankings, it’s no surprise who is sitting at number one. With her win yesterday at the Evian Masters, Jiyai Shin is indeed at the top of the new rankings after sitting at fourth in the rankings last week.
