Golf Writers Needed
Ladies and gentlemen, we are officially looking for contributing writers here at Pro Golf Now, and if you love the game and love to write, this could be a great opportunity for you. PGN was created about a year and a half ago following the amazing Tom Watson performance at the British Open, and has been going strong ever since. And now we’re looking to add more writers in order to expand our coverage and make this great golf site even better. So with that said, here’s a few things you need to know before you send in your sample: [...]
Mark Wilson Wins the Sony Open
After a wet start to the week in Hawaii, we wondered if play would actually conclude on the weekend, or if things would drag into Monday. Well, after a 36-hole day, it was Mark Wilson who birdied the final hole of the tournament to cap off a two-shot victory over Tim Clark and Steve Marino. Wilson did everything he had to do to get the victory. Or more importantly, it might have been what he didn’t do that got him his third victory in his career.
Predictions: Sony Open
After a great start to the 2011 PGA Tour season, which saw Jonathan Byrd knock off Robert Garrigus in a playoff at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, the action shifts this week to the Sony Open. There’s another strong field in place this week, although it’s looking more and more like the weather could be somewhat tricky, which will likely play a huge role in the outcome of this one.
Well golf fans, if the first tournament of the season was a sign of what’s to come this season, it looks like we may be in store for a great year of golf on the PGA tour. It took more than just 72 holes to crown the first winner of 2011, as the Hyundai Tournament of Champions went to a playoff at Kapalua, with Jonathan Byrd winning in a playoff over Robert Garrigus.
Natalie Gulbis and Dustin Johnson Are Now a Couple
It was quite the year for Dustin Johnson in 2010. He led the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach through 54 holes, and seemed to be on his way to his first ever major championship. But he had a major meltdown in the final round, and fell out of contention. Then he got a chance to redeem himself at the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits, and was literally a putt away from winning. And then, well, you know remember what happened next. Johnson was called for grounding his club in a bunker that didn’t look a whole lot like a bunker.
2011 LPGA Schedule Announced
While things have already gotten started for the men in 2011, the ladies will officially get their season underway on February 17 in Thailand, as the year’s schedule was announced yesterday. There will be 25 events on tour this season, and commissioner Michael Whan will be looking to build off of some of the success of 2010, and continue to try and push the LPGA in an upward direction. The 2010 season for the LPGA was all about unpredictability. You had one of the greatest players the tour has ever seen, Lorena Ochoa, announcing her surprising retirement. You had a [...]
Who Will Win 2011 PGA Tour Player of the Year Award?
The 2011 PGA Tour season gets underway today at Kapalua, with the Hyundai Tournament of Champions being the first event on the schedule in the new year. So with the new season starting, it’s time to make some predictions. More specifically, a prediction on who will be the best player on tour this season.
Thoughts on Augusta Being in Tiger 12
If you’re a golf fan, and enjoy playing the occasional video game, then chances are you’ve played the Tiger Woods franchise before. While it’s obviously not the real thing, it’s still fun to pick up the controller and try to shoot under par at one of the many great courses that are incorporated into the game from year to year. And while playing Pebble Beach and St. Andrews never really gets old, there’s always been something missing. Luckily, that something is missing no more.
Well my friends, golf season has finally arrived! The Hyundai Tournament of Champions gets underway tomorrow at Kapalua with a strong field ready to get this new year started on a good note. While we won’t see the likes of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson just yet, the HTOC should be a very exciting event in what should be a very exciting year for professional golf.
