The young, somewhat cocky, American star backed up his talk last weekend by shooting birdie in the final five holes in rout to a three shot victory.

Russell Henley, just 23 years old, has his eyes set on much bigger accomplishments than the Sony Open in 2013. He wants to take what was once surely to be an European dominated tour and turn it American once again.

America’s new hope?

Regardless, he is a young budding star on the tour.

After winning his first tournament on the PGA Tour, he now will make his way to the Humana Challenge. Because many of the games big names will have their attention on Abu Dhabi, it would be a great opportunity for Henley to produce another great result.

Obviously, the field is not without its competitors. Phil Mickelson will be playing in the open, as well as the number eight player in the world Brandt Snedeker.

However, Henley has moved into the top 50 after his win, so he is actually going to be one of the small favorites when he takes to the course Thursday.
