1)Associated Press’s Doug Ferguson is reporting that the LPGA have big plans for the upcoming season. Not only did they add three tournaments to raise the bar to 28, but they have also placed the competitions all around the world.
According to Golf Digest, in the past three years Commissioner Mike Whan has taken a completely different approach than previous commissioner Carolyn Bivens. Ferguson accuses Bivens of someone who “alienated sponsors”. Meanwhile, Whan continues to grow the sport by focusing on actual fans and not the prototypical big TV deals.
That is not to say that if the TV deals come, they won’t jump at it.
2) This has been known for a little while, but I still think it is pretty cool. The LPGA will now be mentioned on Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14. Though the entire tour will obviously not be on the game, there will be 5 playable players and tournaments that will simulate the LPGA.
