Rose started the morning tied for the lead at -5. He parlayed his great start with a great second round and now sits at -8, one shot ahead of the rest of field.

Rose, the fifth ranked player in the world, has set himself up for an exciting weekend. While everyone has been fascinated with the worlds number one and two struggles, Rose has started his year off very well.

Behind him are three players at -7. They are Gonzalo Fdez-Castano, Jamie Donaldson (who started tied with Rose), and Thorbjorn Olsen.
