The Weekend That Was: Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods had a lot of positives come out of the weekend, despite missing the cut.

He had some problems with his driver, however his short game was on. His putting was true, which will  help him as he continues onto the Farmers Insurance Opener. Where I expect him to show well.

Obviously, when you think of the 2013 Abu Dhabi, his penalty will be one of the first things that stand out. When he thought his ball was embedded in trees and rubble, he took a drop. There was sand beneath it all, and thus an illegal, two stroke move.

It is not that big of deal. Justin Rose used the tournament to gauge his game, and not necessarily to win a championship. It was reported that Woods did not contest the penalty too hard either.  Not a lot of prominent players entered the weekend and thought that Abu Dhabi was a must win. The season is early, and players are just trying to get back in the ‘swing’ of things.

I truly do believe that this weekend will prove to be valuable for Tiger as we progress. He will work on his driving a little more, attempting to get all the kinks out, while keeping his success on the greens. It is all he really wanted out of the tournament.
