Phil Mickelson’s Friday was different than his Thursday.
His Thursday was full of history in the making. He finished just one stroke from breaking a record, only missing it when his putt rimmed out, forcing him to settle. It was fireworks and a parade throughout the day for Lefty, no one was going to catch him.
Friday was different. Shooting five strokes worst than he did the previous day, Lefty actually saw some struggles. He still finished -6, which was good to tie sixth on the day. And he holds a four stroke lead standing at -17.
Mickelson major struggle came on the 18th, where he doubled. The day is a little bleak because of it, and that is unfair. He was tremendous for the entire round until that hole. But as I always say in golf, it only takes one hole to screw your day up.
Mickelson will set off with tomorrow morning. You will be able to catch his round on the Golf Channel and CBS.
