It came down to a playoff, but John Merrick was able to hold on to the championship that he almost lost.
Merrick’s counterpart, Charlie Beljan, smelt blood when he boogied 13. Beljan went on to birdie 14 and 18 to force the playoff.
In the playoff, Beljan was only able to manage a boggy on the second playoff hole while Merrick came through with 2 pars that landed him a championship. The two finished there regular rounds eleven under par.
It was Merrick’s first win on tour.
