After watching the Nike “Sorry Mr. Tiger” commercial for the forty-eleventh time, and with it being etched in my brain, I wondered what was strange about it(the commercial..stay with me here).Rory McIlroy wasn’t in it! I know why Rory wasn’t in it, he hasn’t hit a quality golf shot since Cindy Davis, President of Nike Golf, announced her new employee in Abu Dhabi amid a smoke show that rivaled “The Decision” . That leaves Tiger Woods to do the heavy lifting.
I have to tell you, I’m almost as sick of this commercial, as the one released in Abu Dhabi that had Tiger hitting balls on the range with Rory, but that commercial had both players featured. Did they forget to send Rory a casting call when they made this commercial, or is Ms. Davis having second thought about her investment?
The whole thing has had me scratching my head, Tiger Woods was ranked number two, and you have to know he wants, and will get that number one ranking soon, it’s inevitable. Maybe Nike Golf felt the need to hedge their bet with the remainder of the stable further back in the rankings. Charl Schwartzel is back in 13th place, and Nick Watney even further back at 24th.
No…they should have hung in there, had some faith in Tiger Woods, and saved that $250 Million Dollars. Everyone would be happier at this point. Rory would be himself, and Tiger would eventually retake the OWGR lead.
Looks to me like an expensive venture that isn’t reaping the expected rewards, and I am wondering how many people are watching those stupid commercials, and running out to buy Nike clubs. I would buy a set if they would stop running the thing. Come on Nike…
