Is Phil Mickelson Still the best Wedge Player in the World?

I don’t know about you, but watching what Phil Mickelson can do with a wedge in his hands never gets old. The guy has the most imagination I have ever seen when it come to inventing golf shots. The thing that always sparks my interest in these videos is Phil explaining the shot. In most cases, his explanations are tongue in cheek humor that lead the listener into believing anyone on the planet should know how pull off the shot.

Case in point..his step by step description of how and why he hit a shot from the cart path at Doral’s 17th hole could be pulled off by anyone. According to Lefty, it was an easy shot that the average guy should be able to make.

Now I have on occasion hit a pitching wedge off a cart path, but never a sand wedge, and it wasn’t against a world class field over a sand trap with water on the backside. And I can’t ever remember doing it for a birdie.

In this video, Mr. Cleveland has to be given a lot of credit for standing there with his privates exposed to Phil’s wedge. I know I could not have hit that shot, and I also know I would be reluctant to let anyone, even Phil Mickelson take a full swing at my body like that, too many things could have gone wrong, with all of them being bad.
