Tiger Woods Wins Avis Player of the Month for March

Who else could they have picked? After winning two of the four tournaments on The Florida swing in March, Tiger Woods wins the Player of the Month provided by Avis for March. Woods captured over 61% of the vote that is tallied up on PGATour.com, with Kevin Streelman, D.A. Points, and Michael Thompson in the voting.

Tiger Woods won the March POY by virtue of wins coming in WGC competition at The Cadillac Championship in Doral, and his eighth career win at Bay Hill in the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Although Tiger didn’t pick up another Green Jacket at Augusta last week, with three wins on the season, I don’t look for this to be his only Avis award in the 2013 season. There is a lot of great golf left before we wrap it up at the Tour Championship in October.

Kevin Streelman came in second with over 31% of the vote after his win at The Tampa Bay Championship. D.A. Points came in third at almost 5% with the only win, not coming from the Florida swing. Points won The Shell Houston Open with a birdie at the 72nd hole. Michael Thompson drew recognition for his victory at The Honda Classic, and received 2.5% of the vote.
