Teen age phenom, Lydia Ko defends her 2012 title at The CN Canadian Women’s Open when they tee it up on Thursday morning at the Royal Mayfair Golf Club in Edmonton, Alberta. Ko will face the entire Solheim Cup teams except Team USA rookie Lizette Salas, and…Oh yeah!! The South Koreans will be there too. If you didn’t get a chance to see Team Europe in their beat-down of our USA Team, this is another chance to see these girls in action again in one place at one time.
The CN Canadian Women’s Open began back in 2001, and features a $2 Million Dollar purse. It is a 72 hole event that is played on the 6403 yard par 70 Mayfair Golf Club.
You can see this tournament on The Golf Channel starting at 6:30 PM on Thursday with a tape-delay from 12:30 AM until 2:30 AM early Friday morning. The weekend coverage will again be on the Golf Channel from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday from 4:00 PM until the finish. All time are Eastern Daylight Time.
There are some interesting early pairings that will feature teenager, and defending champ, Lydia Ko, playing with Solheim Cup teenager, Charley Hull. Karrie Webb will play with Rolex number two, Stacy Lewis, and the Rolex number one, Inbee Park will play with Solheim Cup Spanish star, Azahara Munoz.
If you didn’t get enough of the LPGA during the Solheim Cup, or want to see more, this should be must see TV on your list of weekend sports.
