It was a crazy schedule on Friday at the Barclays with players completing the first round, and trying to get the second round in the books. Some players thrive in the chaos, and some don’t. All one needs to do is look at the final round of the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championships to see how well Matt Kuchar handles adversity. With winds in excess of 40 miles an hour, The Kuch in his stocking hat, prevailed while most of his fellow competitors watched from South Beach while awaiting the start of the Honda Classic.
Matt Kuchar had it to 12 under par on Friday evening at Liberty National Golf Course before daylight ran out on him, and his playing partners, Tiger Woods, and Brandt Snedeker. While Matt Kuchar play flawless golf, Woods, and Snedeker struggled through the day. He bogeyed the 18th hole on Saturday morning to finish with a two-stroke lead to end the second round.
It looks like when Fox takes over some of the Golf broadcasting duties in the 2015 season, Greg Norman will be your lead analyst. Fox signed a 12 year agreement with the USGA to broadcast their events stating in 2015 and running through 2026. This will include the US Open. This article is from The Golf Channel, and includes links to Tim Rosaforte’s Golf Digest articles on the subject.
Tiger Woods put up three early birdies on Friday morning, including one at the first hole, but rand into a snag at the seventh hole where he began a horrible stretch. He bogeyed the seventh, tenth, and eleventh holes before getting the ship righted. Birdies at the 13, and 17th holes got him into the clubhouse early Saturday morning posting a 69, with a two-day total of six under par, five shots off the lead. Tiger was so angry at times the broadcast team had to apologize for language that made it on the air. The F-Bombs came through loud and clear.
After making his “Bubble Boy” video with Liberty National and the Statue of Liberty in the background, Ben Crane had to withdraw from the Barclays because of back pain. It is obvious that his season is over at this time with only the top 100 moving on to The Deutsche Bank next week. This post from SB Nation includes the Bubble Boy Video if you have not yet seen it.
