American, Peter Uihlein takes his battle with Frenchman, Gregory Bourdy to The Omega European Masters this week at the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Course in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. The two battled it out last week at Celtic Manor in Wales where Bourdy prevailed for the win. With no PGA event this week, and most of the top players taking a break before the FedEx Cup resumes next week, this will give European Tour players a chance to advance in Race To Dubai standings.
Thirty year-old Scot, Richie Ramsay is the defending champion at the mountain course in Switzerland, and is coming in with some confidence after playing well at Gleneagles a couple of weeks ago. He won here in 2012 with a runaway four shot victory.
“I’m feeling quite confident – I played good at Gleneagles. The game is in good shape and if I hole a few putts I can get in the mix again on the back nine on Sunday. That’s where it counts and where the pressure comes; I’m quite positive when I have that pressure.
It’s time for Ramsay to step it up. At 64th on the Race To Dubai points list, and ranked 112th on the OWGR he needs to make some ground soon. Maybe he can find the magic he had last year, and get that third win on the European Tour.
The Golf Channel will feature the Omega European Masters beginning at 9 AM Eastern on Thursday morning.
