The Evian Championship is considerably more than another golf tournament.  It’s a week-long, event-packed, star-studded gala that revolves around a golf tournament.  Loyal Evian fans include Hugh Grant, Thomas Gibson, Dany Boon, Zinedine Zidane, Bixente Lizarazu, Laurent Blanc, Jean-Claude Killy and Elsa Zilberstein.  There’s a charity soccer match that’s become an event-within-an-event that’s scheduled this year for Friday afternoon.  There are new water hazards and deeper bunkers in the renovated golf course, and there is the Evian Resort itself.  The Evian Championship is a world-class sporting event.  No wonder the players who’s been invited to compete are giddy with excitement and anticipation!

Much like the Solheim Cup, The Evian generates an unusually high level of player synergy between the technical and mental games that drives exceptional performance.   Separated by less than 5 weeks, the charge generated by the Solheim has the potential to figure heavily into player performance at The Evian.  It won’t be the only factor, but those who played last month in Colorado are bringing a very special mental boost to The Evian.

The Solheim rookies, who experienced the Solheim High for the first time this year, are still savoring the feeling.  Players young in their pro careers, Americans as well as Europeans, came away from the Solheim transformed.  They were members of a team, representatives of their home countries, and sporting ambassadors in an international arena.  They were mentally prepped to embrace the Evian ambience and give it their very best.

I’ve identified 3 Team USA and 3 Team Europe rookies who are currently surging and seem most likely to capitalize on their Solheim experience and leverage it to a top-10 finish at The Evian.
