Scott Jamieson, from Scotland fired an eleven under par 60 in the third round of the Portugal Masters on Saturday afternoon at the Oceanico Victorio Golf Course in Algarve, Portugal to grab a one-shot lead over Englishman, David Lynn. The young Scot missed a birdie putt at the eighteenth hole to log the European Tour’s first 59.
Jamieson’s bogey-free round started with a par at the first hole but after a birdie at number two, he went on a four birdie run at the fourth hole. After another birdie at the par four ninth hole, made the turn at 29. He put a 31 on the back-nine, and needed to make a birdie at 18 to close the deal.
The 29 year-old Jamieson from Glasgow, Scotland won the first tournament of the 2013 Sunshine Tour season at the Nelson Mandella Championship back in December. He is ranked 110 th in the Official World Golf Rankings(OWGR), and is currently 27th on the Race To Dubai points list.
After his win in South Africa, the remainder of the season wasn’t as good to him. He did finish T 2 in last week’s Seve Trophy competition, and he was able to garner a T 17 at the Alfred Dubhill Links Championship last month.
He missed cuts in his only two Open Championship appearances both in 2012 and 2013, but was able to make the cut at The PGA Championship this year and finished T 29. Jamieson turned pro in 2006.
