Jordan Spieth made 9 birdies and zero bogies to catapult himself to a 2 stroke lead at the Farmers Insurance Open in La Jolla, California. The 20 year old made the most of his draw, saving his best golf for the easier North Course one day after a disappointing 71 on the South Course. The format of the Farmers, where each golfer plays one round on both courses before the Friday cut, usually creates a volatile leaderboard. This year was no different, as Billy Horschel (-7), Morgan Hoffman (-6) and Russell Knox (-6) all joined Spieth as Friday entrants into the top-10. Thursday leader Stewart Cink (-9) narrowly missed an eagle putt on his finishing hole to join Spieth and currently sits alone in 2nd. The rest of the top 10 include Nicolas Colsaerts (-8), Marc Leishman (-7), Gary Woodland (-6), Pat Perez (-6) and Erik Compton (-6).
Tiger Woods (-1) followed up his lackluster Thursday with a lackluster 71 to narrowly make the cut. Other notable names who will play the weekend are Keegan Bradley (-3), Phil Mickelson (-2), Ian Poulter (-2) and Bubba Watson (-1). You can see coverage of the final two rounds from 1-2:30pm (Sat & Sun) on Golf Channel and from 3-6pm (Sat & Sun) on CBS.
