Accenture Match Play: Victor Dubuisson Defeats Peter Hanson In Second Round

Victor Dubuisson got up early on fellow competitor, Peter Hanson in second round action at the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championships, but was able to hang on down the stretch and put the Swede away 3 & 1. The bad news is, now he will face a juggernaut and the pink driver of Bubba Watson in round 3.

Most of the fans here in the USA are probably not familiar with Victor Dubuisson. He is one of the more exciting young players on the European Tour, and if he continues the success he has had early in the 2014 season, you may be seeing a lot of him in the coming months.

The 23 year-old Frenchman from Cannes, came to everyone’s attention when he won the Turkish Airlines Open during the Race To Dubai playoffs. You might remember, Tiger Woods was in the field back in November when Dubuisson got his first, and only European Tour win.

The young Frenchman went to Dubai the following week for the DP World Tours Championships, and finished in solo possession of third place against the best players on the European Tour. He picked up a T 20 at the Nedbank  Golf Challenge, and another top ten with a T 5 at the Volvo Golf Championships on the Sunshine Tour.

Victor Dubuisson is ranked 30th in Official World Golf Rankings, and is currently ranked 26th in Race To Dubai standings.

Dubuisson will meet Bubba Watson when the third round gets underway at The Ritz Carlton Dove Mountain Resort on Friday. Bubba closed out Jonas Blixt 2 UP in the second round and his dominating distance off the tee will provide a formidable challenge for the youngster from France.
