US Women's Open: Ladies Dream Golf Fantasy Picks

The US Women’s Open picks are in at Ladies Dream Golf, the only full-featured, full-schedule fantasy golf site for women’s pro golf fans.  So who are the LDG players favoring to make the cut and play the weekend on Pinehurst No. 2’s fabled Donald Ross links?

World ranked number 1 Stacy Lewis is the LDG all-around favorite to win the Open.  Why?  Because she’s playing very hot golf right now.

With 13 starts this season Lewis has 11 top-10 finishes, two of them wins (North Texas LPGA Shootout and ShopRite LPGA Classic).  She’s leading by a healthy margin in the year-long Race to the CME Globe and her player stats are solid.  She leads the Tour in putts per GIR, scoring average, and making birdies (229 and counting).

Lewis is a safe, predictable pick, although Inbee Park, Paula Creamer, and Karrie Webb are not going to let Lewis walk away with the trophy without working for it.

Most Likely to Play the Weekend

Who did the LDG players pick as most likely to be around to play the weekend at the Open?  Spain’s Azsahara Munoz is on the top of this list.  Although Munoz is still looking for a 2014 win, she’s collected six top-10s out of 13 starts, she’s playing a solid all-around game, and she hasn’t missed a cut all year.  The Ladies Dream golf players are probably on target with 18th ranked Munoz.  She’ll grind it out and make the cut.  If the golf stars line up, she could finish Sunday on the front page of the leaderboard.

LDG players also tapped Brittany Lincicome and Kristy McPherson to play the weekend.   They may be seeing something that I overlooked.   Number 62nd ranked Lincicome has missed five cuts in her twelve 2014 starts and her player stats place her right in the middle of the field.

McPherson an even more unlikely pick to get to the weekend.  The 235th ranked player has seven cuts out of eleven starts.  After seven years on the Tour the South Carolinian is still hunting her first pro victory.  But this is golf and anything can happen over the next two days.

If you’re a women’s pro golf fan like me and you’re not playing Ladies Dream Golf, which is free, you’re missing some weekly fun!  LDG players can even log into a live chat during the rounds to commiserate, brag, and weep!
