The social media phenomenon that is the Ice Bucket Challenge seems to be growing legs as the popularity among touring pros has crossed over into challenges being issued to those outside the golfing world.
We first reported on this seemingly passing fad early in the week as PGA Tour star Rickie Fowler, the would be catalyst for these chilly call outs got the ball rolling among touring players.
Pros from the PGA and LPGA Tours graciously accepted their challenges and the list of names seems to be growing every day as twitter feeds and Vimeo videos keep popping up all over social media.
Golf Channel’s Gary Williams called out ESPN’s Jay Bilas for the Ice Bucket Challenge and Bilas, well, took a different angle on the entire challenge.
The list of golfers that have been called out and accepted this chilly challenge is growing by the day. So much, a favorite host on some of Golf Channel’s top shows, Holly Sonders recently posted her video of the Ice Bucket Challenge on the Fourth of July, complete with Star and Stripes wardrobe and a fireworks display.
In all seriousness and as much fun as this social media call out beast has become, it is after all for the benefit of charity. It’s more than just the stars of the game of golf dumping ice cold buckets of water over their heads.
The Ice Bucket Challenge is truly helping worthy causes to not just gain funding, but awareness to their causes through this ‘Chilling for Charity”.
If you had the chance to call out someone in the world of golf for this challenge, who would it be?
