If you ever had any doubts that Professional Golf has become truly a global sport, you can put that doubt to rest this week. Even the 2014-2015 PGA Tour Wrap schedule moves off-shore to Malaysia while the European Tour is in China for the start of the Race To Dubai playoff schedule at The BMW Masters. The ladies are in Taiwan for the week, and only the Champions Tour is on good old American soil for the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.

PGA Tour

Ryan Moore defends his 2013-2014 playoff win at the CIMB Classic on the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Moore beat Gary Woodland last year in a storm-delayed Monday playoff .

Only 78 players will tee it up in this fall classic, including Jason Dufner, who played last week in The ISPS HANDA Championship on the European Tour. Dufner has been recovering from a bulging disk in his neck, and finished in a tie for 23rd place in the event that was won by young Dane, Thorbjorn Olesen.

The Cimb Classic gets underway on Thursday morning(early), and features a $7 Million Dollar Purse, with the winner picking up a check for $1.26 Million Dollars, and 500 FedEx Cup Points.

You can see the CIMB Classic on the Golf Channel with the broadcast starting at 11:00PM Eastern Time Wednesday night thru Saturday night. I’m sure they will offer a re-broadcast during the day, but there is no SiriusXM Coverage of this event.

European Tour

The Race To Dubai playoff begins on Thursday morning at the BMW Masters played at the Lake Malaren Golf Club in Shanghai, China. The tournament is the first playoff event that comprises four tournaments including the WGC-HSBC Championship next week at the Sheshan Golf course, also in Shanghai, The Turkish Airlines Open, and the Finale’ in Dubai next month.

The BMW Masters offers a $ 7 Million Dollar Purse, and will be missing the world’s number one player, Rory McIlroy. McIlroy is taking a break while getting ready for his legal issues surrounding his former management company. Also missing this week, will be last year’s FedEx Cup Champion, and Race To Dubai winner, the number three ranked, Henrik Stenson. Stenson is ranked number five in the OWGR.

LPGA Tour

Suzann Pettersen won her 14th LPGA event last year at the Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship when she battled Spaniard, Azahara Munoz down the stretch with a three under par 69. She also won here in 2012, and will be the double defending Champion at the Miramar Golf Country Club in Taipei.

There is a nice $2 Million Dollar purse on the line this week, and 500 Race To CME Globe points. Stacy Lewis has a thousand point lead in this race, with Inbee Park, Lydia Ko, Michelle Wie, and So Yeon Ryu rounding out the top five.

Champions Tour

The Charles Cup Championship gets underway on Thursday from the Cochise Course at the Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. Bernhard Langer has already locked up the Schwab title, but the event carries a $2.5 Million Dollar purse, with the winner taking home $440,000 Dollars.

Fred Couples fired a tournament total 267 last year, and beat Bernhard Langer, Mark O’Meara, and Aussie, Peter Senior by six strokes.
