Presidents Cup Captain’s Pick Early Power Rankings: Team International
By Sam Belden
In last week’s feature of this variety, we took a look at the potential captain’s picks for Team USA. Now, we’ll turn our attention to the other side and examine some of the players that captain Nick Price might select to fill out Team International at this fall’s Presidents Cup.

While Team USA’s points list is calculated based off of money earned on the PGA Tour, Team International’s system is markedly different and far simpler. The first ten spots are determined by the Official World Golf Ranking–that’s right, you can just scroll down the list and see who’s qualified–while the final two are chosen by the captain. The rationale behind this is that those eligible for Team International are dispersed throughout the world and its many different professional golf tours, so the rankings are the fairest way of comparing them to each other. As it stands right now, the team’s roster would consist of Jason Day, Adam Scott, Louis Oosthuizen, Hideki Matsuyama, Branden Grace, Marc Leishman, Thongchai Jaidee, Charl Schwartzel, Anirban Lahiri and Danny Lee. Although that lineup is subject to change, it’s the one that we’ll use as we take a look at the top ten players who are vying for one of the final two spots.
Once again, I’ve determined this list based on both current form and season-long excellence, as well as a number of other, less important criteria. Now, let’s take a look at those internationals who currently sit outside of the Presidents Cup points bubble. Each player’s current rank in points is listed next to his name.
