These 10 players are trending up going into the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic.

The Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic is a whole lot more than another pro golf tournament. It’s a cultural celebration. It’s a week-long party – LPGA Commissioner Mike Whan will probably don a kilt, at least for a few hours. And it’s become Lydia Ko’s personal playground. She won her first pro tournament at the 2014 Swinging Skirts. She celebrated her 18th birthday and also won the 2015 Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic. And this year Ko’s going for a hat trick.

When the 3rd edition of the Swinging Skirts LPGA Classic tees off at Lake Merced Golf Club this Thursday all eyes will be on Lydia Ko. The world’s top female golfer is going for a three-peat. It’s not often done, but Ko’s no ordinary golfer. In fact, Lydia Ko is no ordinary person.

But the 2016 Swinging Skirts field looks a bit different than the competitors who Ko faced in 2014 and 2015. In addition to the Tour veterans – Inbee Park, Stacy Lewis, Cristie Kerr, Morgan Pressel – who would like to put a stop to Ko’s steamroller on the Lake Merced track, there’s a new generation of hungry young players who also have game and are more than ready to challenge Ko’s hegemony.

It’s going to be typical spring weather in the Bay Area – a little sun, a little rain, mostly clouds, light wind and daytime temperatures in the 60s. Sweaters and rain gear will be in order at Lake Merced this week.

Let’s take a look at my power rankings the field, starting with the woman I see leading the pack.
