AUTHOR: Blake Lovell | IN: LPGA Tour, Michelle Wie | COMMENTS: None Yet

It’s been an exciting season on the LPGA Tour. We’ve had one player already win five times on tour this year, (Ai Miyazato). We’ve had two women track down Miyazato for the number one spot in the Rolex Rankings on several occasions (Jiyai Shin and Cristie Kerr). And there was another exciting happening at the CN Canadian Open this week, as Michelle Wie controlled the tournament the entire way, and picked up her second victory in her LPGA Tour career.

AUTHOR: Blake Lovell | IN: LPGA Tour | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The ladies of the LPGA tour were back in action this past week, with the Safeway Classic featuring the top names on the women’s side. But in 3010, one name has stood out a little more than the others, and that name is Ai Miyazato. Miyazato picked up her 5th win of the season on Sunday, as she held off Cristie Kerr, and moved into Kerr’s number one spot in the Rolex World Golf Rankings.

The new edition of the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings has officially come out today, with not a whole lot of movement taking place towards the top. Evian Masters champion Jiyai Shin still sits atop the rankings after a T14 finish this past week, while former number ones Cristie Kerr and Ai Miyazato switched spots, with Kerr taking over second place after her Top 5 at the Women’s British Open this past weekend.

AUTHOR: Blake Lovell | IN: LPGA Tour, Popular, Yani Tseng | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

It certainly wasn’t easy, but then again, major championships aren’t suppose to be. Yani Tseng entered the final round of the Women’s British Open with a four-shot lead, but we all knew it would be an intriguing finish, and that’s exactly what we got today at Royal Birkdale. Tseng struggled to a 1-over par 73, but it was enough to top Katherine Hull by one stroke, and win her third LPGA major of her career.

AUTHOR: Blake Lovell | IN: LPGA Tour | COMMENTS: None Yet

The final major championship of the 2010 LPGA season takes place this week at Royal Birkdale, as the ladies do battle at the Women’s British Open. This event will be what we expect from a British Open, as I’m sure we’ll see unpredictable weather become the theme for the week, which will probably lead to some high scores. Here’s a look back at last year’s event at Royal Lytham & St. Annes, which was won by Catriona Matthew, who had just given birth to her second daughter 11 weeks before the championship.

The 2010 edition of the Evian Masters has ended, and what a closely contested final round it was in France. Third-round leader Morgan Pressel had a birdie attempt on the final hole that would have forced a playoff, but she couldn’t sink the putt, which allowed Jiyai Shin to take home the trophy after shooting a final round 67.
