AUTHOR: | IN: LPGA, LPGA Futures Tour | COMMENTS: Comments Off

Both the LPGA and LPGA Futures Tours conducted tournaments this past weekend. For the ladies of the Futures Tour, this would be their last even of the season. That’s where we start the wrap. Ten ladies advanced another step in their LPGA careers yesterday. One goal of being an LPGA player is now complete. Beginning in 1999, the Futures Tour has awarded graduates their card in order to participate on the LPGA Tour. Nine of the ten were present after the final round of the Price Chopper Tour Championship from Albany, New York. Your ten graduates are:

I’m a little worried about the Solheim Cup. Maybe I’m paranoid, but maybe not…completely.

Looking at the Field

AUTHOR: | IN: LPGA | COMMENTS: Comments Off

One thing smacks you in the face when viewing the field for this week’s Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G tourney. There are 15 of the top 20 women vying for the title. Pretty strong field, I’d say. And among those is defending champ and the Rolex #1 Yani Tseng. But the home field advantage has to go to Stacy Lewis. She’s pretty much in her backyard at Pinnacle Country Club located in Rogers, Arkansas. She’s roughly 20 miles from where she played her college golf as a member of the University of Arkansas team. Call it a clash [...]

2011 LPGA Schedule Announced

AUTHOR: | IN: LPGA | COMMENTS: Comments Off

While things have already gotten started for the men in 2011, the ladies will officially get their season underway on February 17 in Thailand, as the year’s schedule was announced yesterday. There will be 25 events on tour this season, and commissioner Michael Whan will be looking to build off of some of the success of 2010, and continue to try and push the LPGA in an upward direction. The 2010 season for the LPGA was all about unpredictability. You had one of the greatest players the tour has ever seen, Lorena Ochoa, announcing her surprising retirement. You had a [...]

Yani Tseng Wins the P&G Northwest Arkansas Championship

AUTHOR: | IN: LPGA, Yani Tseng | COMMENTS: Comments Off

The 2010 season on the LPGA Tour has defined by parody. Week after week, it seems like we’re seeing different players step up and relish in their opportunity to try and be the best in the game. And while there have been several that have done it one or two times, there have been others who have stood out from the crowd. One of those players has been Yani Tseng, who recently picked up her third major championship of her career at the Women’s British Open, added another victory to her win total this year by the winning the P&G [...]

Michelle Wie Wins the 2010 CN Canadian Open

AUTHOR: | IN: LPGA, Michelle Wie | COMMENTS: Comments Off

It’s been an exciting season on the LPGA Tour. We’ve had one player already win five times on tour this year, (Ai Miyazato). We’ve had two women track down Miyazato for the number one spot in the Rolex Rankings on several occasions (Jiyai Shin and Cristie Kerr). And there was another exciting happening at the CN Canadian Open this week, as Michelle Wie controlled the tournament the entire way, and picked up her second victory in her LPGA Tour career.

Ai Miyazato Back at Number One After Safeway Classic Win

AUTHOR: | IN: LPGA | COMMENTS: Comments Off

The ladies of the LPGA tour were back in action this past week, with the Safeway Classic featuring the top names on the women’s side. But in 3010, one name has stood out a little more than the others, and that name is Ai Miyazato. Miyazato picked up her 5th win of the season on Sunday, as she held off Cristie Kerr, and moved into Kerr’s number one spot in the Rolex World Golf Rankings.

Kerr and Miyazato Switch Spots in New Women’s World Golf Rankings

AUTHOR: | IN: LPGA | COMMENTS: Comments Off

The new edition of the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings has officially come out today, with not a whole lot of movement taking place towards the top. Evian Masters champion Jiyai Shin still sits atop the rankings after a T14 finish this past week, while former number ones Cristie Kerr and Ai Miyazato switched spots, with Kerr taking over second place after her Top 5 at the Women’s British Open this past weekend.

Yani Tseng Hangs On to Win 2010 Women’s British Open

AUTHOR: | IN: LPGA, Popular, Yani Tseng | COMMENTS: Comments Off

It certainly wasn’t easy, but then again, major championships aren’t suppose to be. Yani Tseng entered the final round of the Women’s British Open with a four-shot lead, but we all knew it would be an intriguing finish, and that’s exactly what we got today at Royal Birkdale. Tseng struggled to a 1-over par 73, but it was enough to top Katherine Hull by one stroke, and win her third LPGA major of her career.

AUTHOR: | IN: LPGA | COMMENTS: Comments Off

We’re one round away from crowning the 2010 Women’s British Open champion, as third round play has concluded at Royal Birkdale. No surprise at the top after round three, as Yani Tseng is still controlling the tournament after shooting a 68 for the third consecutive day, and has a four-stroke lead over Katherine Hull heading into the final round of the championship.
