We came into the final round of the Masters expecting something fantastic. And well, if you happened to catch the final round today, you got something fantastic. Really fantastic. With storylines building all over the place, in the end, it was Charl Schwartzel who outlasted everyone at Augusta, and won his first ever major by shooting a 66 and finishing with a two-stroke victory over Adam Scott and Jason Day. Let’s start with Scott and Day. Neither guy could have asked for a better performance on this Sunday. Both were great down the stretch, and made key putts to put [...]

Sleeper Picks for the 2011 Masters
Ladies and gentlemen, The Masters is almost here, as things get going tomorrow morning in Augusta. And with that in mind, fellow staff writer Evan Klonsky joins me to give you a few of our sleeper picks for this year’s event: Blake Lovell Martin Laird Laird is already on pace to have his best season ever on the PGA Tour, and already has a win under his belt at the Arnold Palmer Invitational a few weeks ago. Welcome to Masters Week
Golf fans, the tradition unlike any other has arrived, as the 2011 edition of The Masters gets underway Thursday morning at Augusta National. Defending champion,Phil Mickelson, won the tune-up for the Masters by coming out on top at the Houston Open, and it’s clear that his game is where he’d like it to be heading into this week. Of course, you can’t mention a Masters without mentioning the name Tiger Woods. While Tiger’s game is not even close to where it use to be, anytime he steps on the course at Augusta, he’s a threat to win the tournament. Be [...]
Ranking the 2010 Major Championships in Golf
Although we’ve still got a little ways to go in the 2010 PGA Tour season, the major championship season is officially over, and well, it certainly ended with a bang. While it’s no science, it’s always fun to look back and decide which majors I enjoyed most, and which just didn’t have all that much appeal. So with that, let’s take a trip down memory lane, and rank the 2010 major championships in golf.
10 Things I Learned From the 2010 Masters
Well ladies and gentlemen, it’s post-Masters Monday, which usually brings about lots of excitement, and well, a little bit of a golf hangover. Sunday at the Masters is usually the greatest day of the year for golf fans, so forgive us if we’re a little bit out of it today as we think back to how great of a tournament this was. The weekend that Phil Mickelson had was nothing short of spectacular, and his third green jacket was on that he certainly earned.
Phil Mickelson Wins the 2010 Masters
On a day where it seemed like maybe five or six guys could win the golf tournament, only one stepped up and made it his tournament to lose down the stretch. And that man was Phil Mickelson. Mickelson had a dominating performance this afternoon, shooting 5-under par on the day to finish at 16-under for the championship, and took home his third green jacket, with Lee Westwood being his closest competition at 13-under.
There were two days that we’ve been anticipating for a while now. The first was Thursday, when the first round of the Masters got underway. And the second is today, where we’ll find out who will be wearing the green jacket in Butler Cabin when play has concluded on the course later this afternoon. And if what we saw in the third round on Saturday was any indication as to what kind of day it will be, we’re set up for an amazing finish at golf’s biggest tournament.
Already Some Big Movers on Day Three at the Masters
Just wanted to drop a few quick notes for today’s television coverage gets underway on CBS. The second round was filled with lots of great stories, and it looks like the third round is heading in that direction already, and some of the top players are just now getting started. Here’s some notable things that have taken place thus far in today’s round.
Heading into this year’s Masters, we all knew that it was going to be a tournament unlike any other that we had seen before. And that was just the off-course stuff. But today, the on-course stuff has set us up for what may be one of the most memorable tournaments of all-time, especially because of the stars that have aligned at the top of the leaderboard at the end of day one.
If you’ve talked golf with me before, you know that Tom Watson‘s performance at the British Open last year was the reason that I started this blog. It moved me in a way that no other golf tournament ever has, and he was a putt away from becoming one of the biggest sports stories of all-time. Today, Watson is trying to do it all over again the Masters. He just finished up his round, making no bogeys and five birdies en route to a 5-under 67, and is currently the leader in the clubhouse.
2010 Masters TV Schedule
Let me say this, golf fanatics. It’s been a while since I’ve been up this early in the morning. I sort of felt like a kid waking up on Christmas morning, as the 2010 edition of the Masters has finally arrived, and I can’t wait to get this thing started. Here’s a look at the TV schedule for the week:
