Michelle Wie Wins the 2010 CN Canadian Open

AUTHOR: | IN: LPGA, Michelle Wie | COMMENTS: Comments Off

It’s been an exciting season on the LPGA Tour. We’ve had one player already win five times on tour this year, (Ai Miyazato). We’ve had two women track down Miyazato for the number one spot in the Rolex Rankings on several occasions (Jiyai Shin and Cristie Kerr). And there was another exciting happening at the CN Canadian Open this week, as Michelle Wie controlled the tournament the entire way, and picked up her second victory in her LPGA Tour career.

Ai Miyazato Back at Number One After Safeway Classic Win

AUTHOR: | IN: LPGA | COMMENTS: Comments Off

The ladies of the LPGA tour were back in action this past week, with the Safeway Classic featuring the top names on the women’s side. But in 3010, one name has stood out a little more than the others, and that name is Ai Miyazato. Miyazato picked up her 5th win of the season on Sunday, as she held off Cristie Kerr, and moved into Kerr’s number one spot in the Rolex World Golf Rankings.

Kerr and Miyazato Switch Spots in New Women’s World Golf Rankings

AUTHOR: | IN: LPGA | COMMENTS: Comments Off

The new edition of the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings has officially come out today, with not a whole lot of movement taking place towards the top. Evian Masters champion Jiyai Shin still sits atop the rankings after a T14 finish this past week, while former number ones Cristie Kerr and Ai Miyazato switched spots, with Kerr taking over second place after her Top 5 at the Women’s British Open this past weekend.

After we saw one of the best professional golf tournaments of the season last week at the Evian Masters, we can only hope that the ladies have another tournament just like it in store for us this week. Who can we expect to win this week? Well I’m glad you asked. Because it’s time for predictions!

A Look Back at the 2009 Women’s British Open

The final major championship of the 2010 LPGA season takes place this week at Royal Birkdale, as the ladies do battle at the Women’s British Open. This event will be what we expect from a British Open, as I’m sure we’ll see unpredictable weather become the theme for the week, which will probably lead to some high scores. Here’s a look back at last year’s event at Royal Lytham & St. Annes, which was won by Catriona Matthew, who had just given birth to her second daughter 11 weeks before the championship.

In the new edition of the women’s Rolex Rankings, it’s no surprise who is sitting at number one. With her win yesterday at the Evian Masters, Jiyai Shin is indeed at the top of the new rankings after sitting at fourth in the rankings last week.

Predictions: RBC Canadian Open, Evian Masters, Senior British Open

AUTHOR: | IN: LPGA, Popular, predictions, RBC Canadian Open, Senior British Open | COMMENTS: Comments Off

As you can tell from the title above, we’re stacking up on this week’s predictions, which in all honestly, probably means that I’ll add a few more wrong picks to my career resume. But nevertheless, since the start of the new year, we’ve focused mostly on PGA tour predictions, but now we’re gonna venture out into the LPGA and Champions realm as both tours have two big tournaments taking place this week.

A Look Back at a Wild Week of Golf in July of 2009

AUTHOR: | IN: Ai Miyazato, LPGA, RBC Canadian Open, Senior British Open | COMMENTS: Comments Off

As I’ve stated many times before, the idea behind starting a pro golf blog was fueled by Tom Watson‘s performance at the British Open last year. I simply had to write about golf, and I had all the motivation to do so. However, when starting after the British Open, I looked at the schedule. The PGA Tour had the RBC Canadian Open, the LPGA Tour had the Evian Masters, and the senior circuit had the Senior British Open. Not a bad little lineup for a golf fan. But quite honestly, it gave us a little more than we really expected.

While the Tiger Woods press conference and the Accenture Match Play Championship have been the main focus of attention this week for golf fans, some probably forgot that the LPGA kicked things off this week in Thailand.

Well, she almost let it slip away. But in the end, Na Yeon Choi captured the victory at the Samsung World Championship. In what turned into a two player race for most of the final round, Choi finished at 16-under par for the championship, while Ai Miyazato came in one shot back at 15-under.
