Carnoustie is said to be the one of the toughest golf courses in The Open Championship rotation and under tough conditions “Car-nasty” shows its teeth

#12. Carnoustie Golf Links

Established: 1850

Location: Carnoustie, Scotland,

Designed: Allan Robertson, Old Tom Morris, James Braid

Type: Public

Par: 72 (71 for The Open Championship)

Length: 6,941 yards (6,347 meters)

Carnoustie Golf Links is a tough golf course when the conditions are fine, but when the wind is gusting, and the weather overall is terrible, “Car-nasty” shows its ugly head.

Carnoustie has hosted The Open Championship seven times and of those seven tournaments the winner has been under par in only three of those championships.

Carnoustie is scheduled to host The Open Championship again in 2018, and it will host The Senior British Open for the second time in 2018.
