Women’s golf in 2016 has no shortage of players who will be contenders!

What about Cristie Kerr, who finished up the 2015 season with a bang of a victory at the CME Group Tour Championship, and who’s ranked 3rd among the American women golfers in the IGF Olympic rankings? She’ll be there, week after week, pushing, walking in her putts, challenging the entire field to deliver their best golf.

What about Michelle Wie, who has such enormous promise but who was sidelined in 2015 with illness and injury? If Wie can stop tinkering with her swing and perhaps let some practice time cut into the energy she devotes to her other passions then we can expect her to get back into contention.

What about Brittany Lincicome, one of the Tour’s most powerful players but also a new bride? Will she follow Paula Creamer’s pattern and slide into a slump for a while?

And, finally, what about Morgan Pressel, who is so due a win and who came so close so many times in 2015? What’s holding her back? Pressel does everything right. She just needs that break, that elusive moment of good golf luck that arrives unexpectedly. It will come for her, and I think it will come in a very big way.

Going into 2016, women’s golf across the Tours is in very good hands. The Silent Assassin and the Girl Wonder may control things going into the season, but there is no shortage of challengers to their hegemony. All we need do is sit back and enjoy the drama as it unfolds.
