Olympic Golf: Key Holes On The Back Nine On Sunday
By Adam McGee
16th Hole
If the leading medal contenders successfully manage to navigate the tricky first half of the back nine, they’ll stand on the 16th tee knowing that it’s the time for them to push on and move forward.
At just over 300 yards, the majority of the field will have a chance to drive this green in one. With an average score of 3.648, the 16th has almost seen as many birdies or eagles as it has seen pars in the tournament so far. Hit a perfect drive here and a medal could be almost guaranteed.
A relatively straight forward tee shot, the challenge for the players will come in holding the ball on the green. Not a particularly big target and very narrow towards the center, the rewards will be in play on 16 but only for those with pinpoint accuracy.
