Rickie Fowler is back in action this week, after a well-deserved break in the month of October. If his 2016-17 season is any indication, we could be looking at the start of a huge year for one of the PGA TOUR’s most popular players.

Fowler is coming off the best year of his career to date. He only won once, early in the year at the Honda Classic, but his all-around year was as good as anybody’s. In just 21 starts, Fowler finished in the top ten in nearly half (10) and he racked up 16 top-25s. Consider that he closed his Masters with three straight bogeys and still finished T-11, and you can see just how close he came to something truly legendary.

This will be Fowler’s first trip to Mayakoba, but the short course doesn’t look like one that will cause Fowler too many problems. The Oklahoma State alum ranked second on TOUR last season in adjusted scoring, and fourth in birdie average, and he did it all thanks to some career-best putting. If he’s remotely as effective with the flat stick this week as he was all of last year, this could easily become Fowler’s fifth TOUR title.
