Justin Thomas Hero World Challenge
JEJU, SOUTH KOREA – OCTOBER 22: Justin Thomas of the United States hits his tee shot on the 17th hole during the final round of the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges on October 22, 2017 in Jeju, South Korea. (Photo by Matt Roberts/Getty Images) /

Understatement of the year: Justin Thomas has been pretty, pretty good in 2017. He won five times, took home his first major at the PGA Championship, and won the FedEx Cup with a second-place finish at the Tour Championship. He might have had to ask his dad if the $10 million bonus had hit his bank account, but he won’t need to ask anybody about his playing partner for Thursday and Friday at the Hero.

Thomas has been paired with Tiger Woods, guaranteeing him a massive following at Albany, and there’s no reason to think that will slow him down.

"“I’m probably just as excited to watch it as you are,” Thomas said of his chance to see Woods’s return closer than anybody. “I get a front row seat – but I’m also looking forward to trying to kick his ass.”"

It wasn’t too long ago that a statement like that would have sent shockwaves through the golf world, but that’s the thing about Thomas. He certainly says that at least a bit tongue in cheek, but he absolutely believes he can do it. And he’s got the game to back it up.

This will be Thomas’s first trip to the Hero, but it most certainly won’t be his last. Look for Thomas to continue the incredible run that’s made him one of the most dominant golfers in the world this week at Albany.
