Zurich Classic Power Rankings: Picking the top ten teams in New Orleans
The Spanish duo of Rafa Cabrera Bello and Sergio Garcia first linked up at the 2016 Ryder Cup. They were a bright spot for their losing European Team, going 1-0-1 with the halved match against stalwarts Patrick Reed and Jordan Spieth.
The two have become friends and are closer in age (Garcia’s 38 and RCB’s 33) than many may think. Cabrera Bello was in Butler Cabin when Garcia won the Masters in 2016.
It’s not unfathomable that the two could share in another award ceremony this week.
Garcia’s got a win in Singapore and three top-10s on the PGA Tour in 2018. His last two missed cuts look troublesome, though his Masters miss was a product of one monstrously bad hole and last week at the Texas Open he missed by just one.
RCB picked up a T3 against elite competition at the WGC-Mexico Championship and has two top-10s in the 2018 European Tour season.
Their games appear to complement each other well. RCB’s strength is on and around the green while Sergio’s going to the hall of fame on the back of his ball striking.
