Henrik Stenson is eschewing his native Nordea Masters in Sweden to get some more reps before the FedEx Cup Playoffs

Stenson has had a pretty solid season, albeit a winless one. The 42-year-old has six top-10s worldwide including a T6 at the Masters and a T6 at the U.S. Open.

He made eight cuts in a row prior to missing out at the PGA Championship by just two.

Stenson is the defending Wyndham Championship champion. He broke Si Woo Kim’s 21-under-par tournament record in 2016, going one deeper with scores of 62-66-66-64 to hold off Ollie Schniederjans by one.

Stenson did Stenson things to win, 3-wooding his way around Sedgefield to hit 75 percent of his fairways and 87.5 percent of his greens. Oh yeah, he also gained over two strokes a round on the field on the greens.

This season on Tour, Stenson is second in strokes gained on approaches and fourth tee to green. He’s the best ball striker in the field this week, full stop.

"“I’m trying to be kind of offensive to defensive spots, if you know, off the tee on a few of holes but then you get a lot of 8, 9 irons, wedges into these greens and they’re pretty receptive,” Stenson said in 2017. “You can be pretty aggressive if you’re feeling you got good numbers and feels right, go for it.”"

He’s also fifth in par-4 scoring and should still have comfortable clubs into a lot of greens even without unsheathing driver much.

Stenson’s other trips to Wyndham resulted in a missed cut in 2010 and a withdrawal in 2012.
