The Northern Trust: Power rankings for the FedEx Cup Playoff opener
The big game hunter that is Brooks Koepka is going to show us he can win some non-majors, too.
The 2018 U.S. Open and PGA Championship winner is making his first start since claiming the PGA title. His backers are hoping he hasn’t cooled off in his week off.
Since the U.S. Open in June, he’s made four of five cuts and was solo fifth at the no-cut Bridgestone (despite not making anything on the greens).
He had great looks for birdie all along the back nine at Bellerive. When he’s firing on all cylinders, his game tee to green is elite.
Koepka is 25th on Tour in tee to green and his stats have been better of late; he was working back from a wrist injury this spring.
He is 11th on Tour in par-4 scoring. While it doesn’t expect to be a birdie fest this week, Koepka could turn it into one in his first trip to Ridgewood. He’s seventh in par breakers.
