Last season Jason Day was at the top of his game and was rated the number one golfer in the world. His ranking has fallen off a bit since then to 10th, and this year’s major season could have something to do with that.

Day did have two PGA TOUR victories this season at the Farmers Insurance Open and at the Wells Fargo Championship, but he is another golfer that measures his season success in golf’s biggest events.

His best finish in a major this season was when he tied for 17th at the Open Championship. Other than that he was pretty much a non-factor. Day missed the cut at the U.S. Open and finished tied for 20th and 19th in the Masters and PGA Championship respectively. Day has not finished in the top 10 in a major since 2016, and if he wants to reclaim his number one world ranking then he has to be closer to contention in majors next season.

His talent is too much to ignore, but the rest of the PGA TOUR is getting better every day. Day – and everyone else on this list – needs to be ready for that.
