Xander Schauffele came into the BMW needing to put together a great tournament to make it to East Lake. He looks to be on the right path, as he currently leads the pack at -13, ahead of Justin Rose by two shots.

If he can keep it together through the weekend and not relinquish the lead, this will be his first win of the year. He has played fairly well all season, making the cut in 20 of 25 events. Watch him as he nears the dance floor. He is currently 127th around the green and 113th in shots gained putting this season, and that will make or break his weekend.

No one could be happier to see Schauffele at the top of the leaderboard than he is. It hasn’t been going well for him lately. A 2nd place finish at The Open hinted at greatness, but his next four tournaments where a strong disappointment. 68th, 35th, a missed cut, and 49th led to him on the outside looking in heading into the BMW.

A great first two days, with 15 birdies and two bogies has put Schauffele in a strong position to make it into the top 30. That top 10 finish that he needed looks to be in his grasp.
