World No.80 Thomas Pieters is the second Belgian to make the cut for this week’s Power Rankings ahead of the AFRASIA BANK Mauritius Open.

Pieters finished off the 2019 European Tour season strongly, as finished inside the top 30 at each of his last four events, with three of those being the final three Rolex Series tournaments of the campaign.

A T26 finish at the Amundi Open de France was followed up by a T17 finish at the Turkish Airlines Open, the first of the Rolex trio to end the year.

Pieters then earned a T30 result at the Nedbank Golf Challenge in South Africa before finishing inside the top six at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

This capped off a solid season for the Belgian, who had earlier taken his first European Tour win is nearly three years, as he lifted the D+D Real Czech Masters title in July.

This will be Pieters’ first trip to Mauritius for competitive golf, having never featured in the AFRASIA BANK Mauritius Open in his long professional career before. Despite that, the Heritage course is one that could suit the Belgian’s game, and he could be a good shout come Sunday afternoon.
