The man who finished in 3rd place on the 2019 Race to Dubai leaderboard comes in at 9th spot on our Power Rankings for the Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers, Bernd Wiesberger.

The Austrian held the lead in the Race to Dubai standings for the majority of the season and only lost out on clinching the season-long prize due to Jon Rahm’s brilliance in Dubai in November.

Wiesberger comes into this event having not played since then, opting to take the long break out of the game to relax and recover ahead of the 2020 onslaught.

The current World No.22 won three times on the European Tour in 2019, with two of those victories coming in the prestigious Rolex Series events. He started by winning the Made in Denmark presented by FREJA in May.

Wiesberger then won the Aberdeen Standard Investments Scottish Open in a playoff, before taking his second Rolex crown of the year at the Italian Open, the victory that pushed him inside the top 25 in the Official World Golf Rankings for the first time in his career.

He also finished in a tie for 3rd at the Nedbank Golf Challenge hosted by Gary Player, along with top-ten finishes at the Porsche European Open, Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, and the Belgian Knockout.

Wiesberger will be looking to continue his good form into 2020, following a top ten finish at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, two weeks ago.

The Austrian has never tasted success on the European Tour in the Middle East, but could that change this week in Saudi Arabia?
