Australian PGA Championship

The first event of the new season to be held Down Under came in the third week of the new term, with the Australian PGA Championship taking place at RACV Royal Pines Resort on the Gold Coast.

Like the Alfred Dunhill Championship, the draw was very much filled with a majority from one nation, with Australian’s unsurprisingly ruling the roost, and it would be a home favourite that took the title on Sunday afternoon.

Former Masters champion Adam Scott was the man to take home the trophy, winning the Australian PGA Championship for the second time in his career.

He was one of just four players to shoot under-par across all four rounds, eventually winning out by two shots come the end of 72 holes in Queensland.

From the end of the second round onwards, Scott was inside the top three throughout, and he held a one-shot lead going into the final round. He carded a 69 on Sunday, his second straight three-under-par score, to finish at -13, taking the victory.

The win was his 11th on the European Tour and his second Australian PGA Championship title. With it, he made the move into the top three on the Race to Dubai leaderboard, behind the previous two winners on the Tour, Larrazabal, and Højgaard.

Australian PGA Championship Leaderboard:

1 (-13): Adam Scott (AUS)

2 (-11): Michael Hendry (NZL)

T3 (-10): Min Woo Lee, Cameron Davis, Nick Flanagan, Wade Ormsby (all AUS), Yechun Yuan (CHN)

3: Adam Scott (AUS) – 335.0

4: Joel Sjoholm (SWE) – 323.6
